Installation and help
A few minutes, then you’re connected.
- Download & unzip your browser’s extension.
Chrome: open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, and choose Load unpacked. Select the extracted folder.
Firefox: open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox, choose Load Temporary Add-on, and select manifest.json in the extracted folder. Firefox removes temporary add-ons on restart; reload it for the next session. Persistent signed installation comes with the store release.
- Reload this page and choose Log in with Moot.
Use Google, a passkey, or your Moot login in the tab that opens. Confirm the account connection. No API key to copy.
- Choose capture actions and publishing destinations.
Open each network on this page to choose new posts, post likes, comment likes, replies, and supported reposts or quote posts separately. Capture and publishing have independent switches. Your Moot audience applies to captures; publishing starts disabled.
Post once. Reach your socials.
Enable your usual publishing destinations in the extension once. Every Moot post will preselect them; you can change the choices for that post. Publishing opens social tabs and uses the accounts signed in there.
X, Threads, and Bluesky accept text and media. Instagram requires an image or video. Reddit always uses the matching Moot community’s subreddit and currently automates text posts. Long text becomes an excerpt with a link to the full Moot post; polls are linked rather than recreated.
Keep the source tabs open while publishing. Login prompts, required fields, or upload problems appear in the tab and on your Moot post. If a result is uncertain, check the source before posting again; the extension will not automatically send duplicates.

Open extension activityThe popup shows your two latest actions and a global pause switch. The full activity log is on this page: filter it, save it for debugging, or clear it. Successful captures link to their Moot copies.
Liking or upvoting a comment copies that comment and its parent post into Moot, with the original author and a link to the source. Your friends see that you liked it. Your confirmed like adds one Moot upvote to the copied item. Retries preserve any later vote change you make on Moot.
You choose what becomes shared.
Only your selected, confirmed actions trigger capture. New posts, reposts, and quote posts start disabled; likes and replies preserve your existing defaults. Reading a page never shares it. Private accounts, restricted groups, and incognito browsing are excluded.
Source content is copied once. Edits or deletions on the source do not change the Moot copy. You can edit or delete your own imported posts and replies on Moot, or remove your shared activity.
