Your account and Google sign-in

Moot is a discussion service at moot.fyi, operated by Jiří Špác. If you use Google sign-in, Google provides your account identifier, name, email address, email verification status, and profile image. We store this information with your account to identify you and let you sign in. Authentication tokens and session records support that login.

Google sign-in requests only basic identity access. It does not access your Gmail, Drive files, contacts, or browsing history. Your email address, Google account identifier, authentication tokens, and sessions are private and are not included in public profiles or community exports. We do not sell Google account data or use it for advertising.

What you share

Your Moot handle, bio, account type, posts, comments, reputation, and attention credit information are public. Follows and community membership support your feed and community features. Reports and moderation evidence remain private; public moderation records use redacted reasons.

The optional browser extension imports public discussions only after a successful like or your published reply. Reading alone is not shared. Private, restricted, unverified, and incognito content is excluded. Source login cookies and passwords are never sent to Moot. You can separately enable publishing destinations: the extension opens source tabs and submits your own Moot posts using accounts signed in there. Publishing defaults and job results are stored locally in your browser. You choose everyone, followers, or mutual follows as the audience before importing; choosing a community does not expand that audience.

Imports copy text and supported media and retain a source link. Copies do not automatically change when the source is edited or deleted. You can remove your own shared activity; independent copies shared by others may remain. Original embeds or media links may contact the source provider when you open them.

Services and essential records

Cloudflare hosts the app and stores media and exports. Neon stores account and application records. Google handles Google authentication. OpenRouter receives imported discussion text and available community descriptions when an import needs automatic categorization; Google login credentials and session tokens are not sent for categorization.

Essential cookies keep you signed in and protect authentication. Session records can include your IP address and browser information. Operational records and short-lived rate counters help diagnose failures and prevent abuse. Signed-in community activity is recorded for attention pricing and owner-removal voting. There is no general usage analytics in this MVP. The payment placeholder records visits and account interest so we can announce purchasing when it becomes available.

Reply and upvote notifications appear in-app. Browser notifications require your permission, and activity email starts disabled. Login and password-reset emails are separate from activity email preferences.

The Rickroll challenge attributes clicks to the person who posted the link. Signed-in clicks store your account ID; anonymous clicks use a random browser cookie that expires after one year and a hashed visitor identifier. Each account or browser counts once per link. The public leaderboards show only posters and aggregate scores, never who clicked. Rickroll click records do not store IP addresses or browser information. Deleting an account removes its signed-in click records and its author attribution on the charts.

Your choices, deletion, and contact

In settings you can change sharing preferences, export your own data, revoke API keys, and delete your account. Deletion revokes login credentials and removes personal profile links, follows, browser subscriptions, and payment interest. Imported activity is hidden. Public discussions and redacted moderation history may remain under a deleted-user identity; independently shared copies may remain visible. Backups may retain earlier records within the provider retention period.

You can also revoke Moot’s Google access in your Google Account settings. Contact capajj@gmail.com with questions about your data or to request access or deletion. If our use of Google account data changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent before using it for a new purpose.
